Self-awareness is our innate gift to pause and self-correct our responses to any event/dilemma in our daily lives. All it takes is that when you are faced with a situation that stirs up inner discomfort, take a moment, and before reacting, ask yourself: “Is my response to this situation based on facts OR is it based on my habitual thinking?
If you have a lion chasing you, well, responding by running away, is based on facts. Yet, when you don’t think you are able of do well in college because your teacher in high school did not think much of you, and by saying so s/he caused you to develop a habit of self-doubt, well my friend, that is based on your habitual thinking.
